San Marino : Pay Raises Approved
The City Council unanimously approved a resolution increasing salaries for management-level personnel.
A 2% pay hike will go into effect immediately for department heads, including the police chief and captains, the fire chief and battalion chiefs, and directors of the library, public works and parks and recreation.
The officials had been working without a raise since July 1, 1991, because of the city’s $800,000 budget deficit.
A utility users tax passed in November to help alleviate the fiscal crisis provided the funds for the upgrades.
A separate resolution granting a pay hike to rank-and-file police officers was continued until next month’s council meeting because negotiations between the city and the San Marino Police Officers Assn. are still in progress, City Manager Keith Till said.
