West Covina : Hearings on Landfill Limit

Share

The city has scheduled two public hearings on a proposal to allow BKK Landfill to increase by 9% the amount of trash it accepts each day.

On Thursday, the city’s Commission on Waste Management and Environmental Quality will focus on environmental studies that assess the impacts of the proposed changes. These include plans to increase the daily disposal amount to a maximum of 13,100 tons. The current limit is 12,000 tons a day at the landfill, one of America’s biggest dump operations.

The hearing will start at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council chamber at City Hall, 1444 W. Garvey Ave. South. A second hearing is planned before the Planning Commission on Feb. 9.
