Macho should be recognized for what it is: a primitive set of cultural norms demanding repeated and escalating displays of male prowess that result in high levels of violence and hyper-territoriality, as well as the ritualized rules for interaction between the genders mentioned in the article.

Hispanic culture makes many beautiful contributions to the human spirit. Macho is not one of them.
