Vreni Schneider of Switzerland, wearing a leather support because of a back injury, beat Annelise Coberger of New Zealand by 1.13 seconds at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, for her 42nd victory.
Schneider, 28, the 1991 world slalom champion, earned her second victory of the season and is second to retired Austrian Anne-Marie Proell, who had 62 World Cup victories. Karin Buder of Austria was third.
