Coltec Industries Inc. has named Pablo Prieto as a group vice president overseeing its three aircraft landing-gear businesses, including its Menasco Overhaul Division in Burbank. The group builds and services landing gear for commercial and military jets.

Prieto’s appointment followed Coltec’s restructuring of its operations last week, which included the closure of its landing-gear manufacturing plant in Burbank, and the elimination of 310 jobs there. Coltec attributed the move to slowing demand for aircraft.

Coltec, a diversified New York-based concern, said the Burbank plant’s production would be shifted to plants in Fort Worth, Texas, site of Coltec’s Menasco Aerosystems division, and in Oakville, Ontario in Canada, where its Menasco Aerospace Ltd. unit is located.

Those two divisions--along with the overhaul division remaining in Burbank, which employs about 100 people--will report to Prieto. He also remains president of Menasco Aerospace.

Meanwhile, Robert C. Grill was named president of Menasco Aerosystems. He had been vice president of operations at the Burbank manufacturing plant.
