On Assignment Reports Doubling of Profits

On Assignment Inc., a Canoga Park-based provider of temporary lab technicians and other science professionals, said its fourth-quarter profit more than doubled from a year earlier on a 26% gain in revenue.

In the quarter that ended Dec. 31, On Assignment’s net income jumped to $589,000 from $266,000 a year earlier, and its revenue climbed to $9.02 million from $7.18 million.

For all of 1992, the company’s earnings rose 60%, to $1.76 million from $1.10 million the prior year, and its annual revenue increased 25%, to $32.7 million from $26.2 million.
