WESTMINSTER : Process of Selling 2 Schools Delayed
The Westminster School District Board of Trustees has postponed declaring two elementary school sites excess property so that it can sell or lease them.
The board decided Thursday to delay the decision to give staff an opportunity to meet with city and county officials about possible uses for the two campuses--Midway City Elementary School at 8521 Hazard Ave. in Westminster and Gill Elementary School at 15252 Victoria Lane in Huntington Beach.
The 42-year-old Midway City campus will become vacant next year when its 550 students and 25 staff members move to the newly renovated Hayden Elementary School.
The 30-year-old Gill site has been leased to the county Department of Education since 1976 for special-education classes.
County officials have asked that at least part of that site be retained for special-education classes.
