SIMI VALLEY : Doctor Faces More Charges of Fondling

Share

A Simi Valley doctor already accused of fondling two women in his office was charged Wednesday with three additional counts of misdemeanor sexual battery.

The arraignment for David Lounsberry was postponed until Feb. 5 because of the new developments in the case, attorneys said. Lounsberry did not appear in court for the brief hearing Wednesday but sent his attorney, Robert E. Courtney of Redondo Beach.

Prosecutors first filed sexual battery charges against Lounsberry on Jan. 6, accusing him of fondling a female patient and the mother of a juvenile patient.

Deputy Dist. Atty. William G. Karr said news accounts of those charges prompted two more women to come forward and accuse Lounsberry of fondling them. Karr declined to say if any other patient complaints are being investigated.

The charges cover the period from February to September, 1992. Lounsberry is charged with fondling one woman twice, during two trips to his office about a month apart, Karr said.

The prosecutor said the charges were filed as misdemeanors because no force or restraint was used.
