Change in San Diego: Wesley O. Brustad resigned Monday as executive director of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra Assn., saying he has “accomplished” what he set out to do in San Diego. Since taking the post in September, 1986, Brustad has led the organization through a financial turnaround during which it operated in the black for five straight fiscal years after a decade of deficits. Brustad, 49, was previously executive director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Now, he says, he has “new opportunities where I can more freely use my creative abilities.”
