Clinton on Higher Taxes

Share

In President Clinton’s first week in office, he’s already considering breaking a campaign promise. How can the President even consider raising taxes on the middle class (Jan. 24-25) when a great part of his campaign message was that he would not raise taxes? We vote one President out of office because he broke his no-tax pledge, for one reason. During the campaign many economists said Clinton had to raise taxes to reduce the deficit. He didn’t believe them, but now the President is finding out he is running out of options.

It was the politicians who created this massive-monster budget deficit, but it looks like the new Administration has the same strategy to deal with it . . . give the bill to the middle class. And I thought this new President was going to give us change, but the only thing that may change is the larger number of dollars we must pay to our government.
