LANCASTER : Doctor Sentenced in Sexual Battery Case
- Share via
A Lancaster doctor accused of sexually abusing six women in his office since 1986 has been sentenced to one year in County Jail, five years probation and fined $5,000 after pleading no contest to a felony sexual battery charge.
Lancaster Superior Court Judge Thomas Stoever imposed the sentence Monday on obstetrician-gynecologist Ziyad A. Ghabra, 40, who admitted being a “sexual addict,” according to a probation report. Ghabra pleaded no contest Jan. 5 to fondling a woman at his office June 15.
The original criminal case against Ghabra involved that woman and one other alleged victim. But the Medical Board of California, in a pending administrative action to revoke Ghabra’s medical license, says he abused those women and four others.
