Avery Dennison
Avery Dennison said its profit for fiscal year 1992 was 27% higher than the year before, on a revenue increase of only 3%.
For the year ended Dec. 31, the Pasadena-based office products maker had net income of $80.1 million, compared to $63 million in 1991. Earnings were $1.33 per share for the year, a 30% increase from the year before.
Sales in 1992 increased to $2.62 billion from $2.55 billion in 1991.
For the fourth-quarter, Avery Dennison said net income rose nearly 7% to $18.9 million. Earnings per share increased 10% to 32 cents per share. Revenue, however, declined 3% to $629.7 million.
In a statement, Chief Executive Charles D. Miller said the company’s sales growth was “solid . . . despite the weak worldwide economy that particularly affected Europe during the last half of the year.”
Additionally, the company continues to be stung by the troubles in the apparel and retail businesses, to which Avery supplies sales and identification tags and labels.
