A seminar on how cities can increase revenues and create jobs during a slumping economy and in the face of increasing demands for services is scheduled today at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

The California Assn. for Local Economic Development, a nonprofit organization, is playing host to the seminar, which starts at 9 a.m. About 100 city officials from throughout California are expected to attend, said Linda Seyles, an administrative assistant to the group.

Brea City Manager Frank Benest will speak on “Overcoming Organizational Obstacles,” one of 10 topics to be discussed during the seminar. Costis Toregas of Public Technology Inc. will discuss how to generate revenues through new technology and other assets.
