Furor Over Gays in Military

In response to “Clinton Strikes Deal With Military on Gays,” Jan. 29:

Thank you, President Clinton. It looks as if you kept your campaign promise to lift the longtime unconstitutional ban on gays in the military.

On the other hand, Sen. Sam Nunn, (D-Ga.), while you were playing the power game not only did you “out” your true colors and feelings on gays, you have also alienated yourself from the gay community and helped reinforce the negative stereotypes that many Americans hold against us.

Most gays view the new Clinton Administration with hope and optimism; but people like the powerful, Democratic senator from Georgia only remind us that maybe we placed too much of our infinite faith in the hands of the Democratic Party.
