Read with great interest your story on Doug Clifford and Stu Cook of Creedence Clearwater Revival (Pop Eye, Jan. 31). Creedence has long been one of my favorites and probably the saddest rock ‘n’ roll story this side of Elvis.

Doug and Stu definitely had their own sound. Using the same logic of them being merely “the rhythm section” to John Fogerty’s muse, it’s surprising that fellow inductees the Doors sans Big Jim even bothered to show up.

I hope Stu Cook gets his shot at “The Big Stage” when the inevitable induction of Roky Erickson into the Hall of Fame takes place. Good on ya, Stu. You are not forgotten.
