‘Wish Book’ Admirer With a Story to Type
The coverage of the disappearance of the Sears, Roebuck catalogue was of special interest to me for I was finally able to purchase a manual typewriter from it a couple of years ago. (“Mourning the Passing of ‘Wish Book’ Era,” Jan. 29.)
My feeling was that if Angela Lansbury can continue using a manual in “Murder, She Wrote,” why can’t I, having used one since the age of 16.
After casing shops and sources nationally as well as locally, I recalled the old adage that if all fails, try Sears. Not only did Sears supply my typewriter, but the service was superb.
Ave atque vale.
