VENTURA : Planners Consider Billiards Parlor
The Ventura Planning Commission is scheduled today to consider allowing a billiards parlor to move into the Poinsettia Shopping Plaza at Telephone Road and Main Street.
The Q Club would be the only pool hall in Ventura and, if approved, would open late next month, said co-owner George Baker.
“It’s not one of those old, smoky poolrooms,” Baker said. “We want to create a friendly environment, and a nonsmoking environment. We don’t anticipate any problems, and we don’t have any neighbors to complain.”
Baker said the 10-table billiards parlor will cater to couples and middle-class patrons.
The business will serve beer and wine, so only patrons older than 21 will be permitted, he said. Maura Macaluso, an assistant city planner, said she did not anticipate any complaints from neighbors during the public hearing.
