Celebrity attorney Marvin Mitchelson filed for protection from creditors Monday under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
The famed divorce lawyer listed assets of about $7 million and liabilities of $4.5 million, bankruptcy attorney Scott Clarkson said. Among listed creditors are several attorneys, including those representing Mitchelson in his federal court trial for tax fraud. A jury is deliberating that case.
The Internal Revenue Service is also listed, Clarkson said, adding that a reorganization plan will be presented in bankruptcy court within four months.
