Wholesale Business Up in 1992: Sales at the wholesale level rose in December and for all of 1992 after falling the prior year in another sign of increased business activity, the Commerce Department said. Wholesalers’ business increased by 1.5% in December to a seasonally adjusted $153.3 billion after falling by a revised 0.1% in November. Previously, Commerce said November sales were up by 0.4%. For all of 1992, sales at the wholesale level increased by 3.1% to $1.8 trillion after falling by an identical 3.1% in 1991, the department said. The rising level of wholesale business supports other signs of stronger industrial activity, including more factory orders and stronger sales of new cars.
