Hold the Music: Don’t look for a new Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical at the La Jolla Playhouse this fall after all. The production has been postponed until 1994 because getting the musical finished for an Oct. 12-Nov. 21 run proved a problem for Lapine. He is currently directing a film, “Life With Mikey,” and will be directing the West Coast premiere of “Falsettos” (starting March 18 at the Old Globe in San Diego) plus the world premiere of his play “Luck, Pluck and Virtue” (La Jolla Playhouse, Aug. 1). “We just didn’t feel the project would be ready in time for this season,” Lapine said from New York. A replacement show is expected to be announced in a couple of weeks.
