New Auto Club Office: To meet the needs of a growing South County population, the Automobile Club of Southern California will open a San Clemente office Feb. 22.

The 5,300-square-foot facility, just off Interstate 5 at 638 Camino de los Mares in the Ocean View Shopping Plaza, will replace a smaller facility in Laguna Beach.

“If an office isn’t near a freeway, it is inconvenient for many people,” said Chuck Kurtz, the auto club’s district manager. “This new office is conveniently located in a major San Clemente shopping center and represents the auto club’s efforts to respond to members’ needs.”

The auto club has more than 129,000 members in South County, officials said. It will continue to operate its existing office in Laguna Hills.
