Controversy Over Gays in the Military

Share

I was in the Army in 1978 through 1983. My basic training was completed at Ft. Jackson, S.C. Both of my female drill instructors were gay women.

Their sexual preference had nothing to do with their efficiency and care of the troops. These women were forced to hide their sexuality and “make up” boyfriends so that they were not harassed by the male “drills.” They were exceptional instructors, in excellent physical condition.

It is time to end this ignorant attitude against gays in the military.

After all, it took a long time for the “powers that be” to accept women, as well.
