Prince Charles escaped sex and tax problems at home when he flew to America Friday for his first overseas trip since the official collapse of his marriage.

The 44-year-old prince planned a mostly private trip mirroring his pet themes.

It was the heir to the British throne’s first appearance on the international stage since the embarrassing “Camillagate” scandal erupted over an alleged adulterous affair.

Charles has watched his public popularity crumble since worldwide publication of a saucy telephone conversation said to be with married friend Camilla Parker Bowles.
