CHIEF MOM: Commodores of local yacht clubs have always had something in common besides a love of sailing: They were all men. Until now, that is. Carolyn Hardy, a sail racing buff--and Auntie Mom to her nine-member race crew--is the new commodore of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Newport Beach. “When I first got into sailing, it really was a male sport,” says Hardy, the first woman here to break into that elite men’s club. “But not any more.”
