Land Prices Plummet: According to a quarterly survey by the National Land Agency, residential land prices in most major cities from October through January showed a double-digit percentage decrease on a year-to-year basis, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported. The newspaper did not cite the actual percentage decrease. Japan’s land prices surged during the late 1980s partly because of easy credit.
