Toshiba Test: The electronic imaging division of Toshiba America Information Systems in Irvine has been invited to participate in a test program for Tom Peters’ newly established Liberation Management Workshop in Carlsbad.
The workshop will be based on Peters’ current best seller, “Liberation Management: Necessary Disorganization for the Nanosecond ‘90s.” The book by the management guru emphasizes forming small, market-focused business units to adapt quickly.
A spokeswoman for Tom Peters’ Group, which is owned in part by the author, said Toshiba was selected for its “forward-thinking” management and its willingness to devote time and money to the effort. The electronic imaging division produces copiers, fax machines and laser printers.
Meanwhile, Toshiba’s Irvine-based computer systems unit is offering a dealer rebate that effectively cuts prices by $500 on its line of high-end portable computers.
Retail prices on the five models--the T6400DX, T6400DXC, T6400, T6400C and T6400MM--have been reduced by $100 to $500. The models now range in price from $3,799 to $8,799.
