McDonald’s Buys Israeli Potatoes

JERUSALEM —
Israel’s first McDonald’s appeared a step closer with the news that a kibbutz will supply potatoes to the chain’s specifications.
The Israeli Agriculture Ministry said Kibbutz Saad will produce the strain of potatoes that McDonald’s restaurants use for french fries.
The Agriculture Ministry has barred franchise holders from importing potatoes from the United States.
