TWA Sees Business Upturn: Trans World Airlines filed its reorganization plan in New York’s Bankruptcy Court, and one of the carrier’s executives said business has picked up this month. Glenn Zander, TWA co-chief executive, cited customer loyalty and the airline’s promise to provide more leg room by removing 8% of the seats from its planes for the improved business. Despite the recent improvement, TWA’s reorganization plan does not forecast a net profit until 1995. Although the airline plans to generate profit from its operations shortly after it leaves court, the cost of new debt it would issue to creditors would weigh on the bottom line, Zander said.
