San Clemente’s Mike Parsons and Vince De La Pena of Laguna Niguel will be among the 32 surfers and snowboarders competing in the $10,000 Op Wintersurf Pro championships this weekend at the Huntington Beach Pier and Bear Mountain.

Parsons and De La Pena are among 16 surfers in the two-day event, which is in its third year. Surfer Gary Elkerton of Mooloolaba, Australia, who won the inaugural event in 1991, and defending champion Kevin Delaney, a snowboarder from Boulder, Colo., are not scheduled to compete.

Scores from Saturday’s surfing event, which starts at 6:30 a.m. at the Huntington Beach Pier, will be added to Sunday’s snowboarding results to determine the overall champion.
