BRAVE NEW WORLD

In response to Mitchell Stephens’ “Pop Goes the World” (Jan. 17): Cultural diversity may eventually disappear, with capitalism and a materialistic society to blame, but not for a long, long time. Ethnic and religious tensions have been around for thousands of years, and the universal love of Coca-Cola and Michael Jordan will not end the hatred of the Serbs toward the Croats and Muslims, or that between the Palestinians and Israelis.
