PERFORMANCE: The Covenant Players Drama Group will perform at 8 and 11 a.m. Sunday, the first Sunday in Lent, at the First Lutheran Church of Glendale, 1300 East Colorado St. On Wednesday, Pastor John Wetzel, who led trips to the Holy Land, will present the first of five weekly series titled “A Spiritual Journey to Jerusalem.” A soup dinner will be served in the Fellowship Hall at 6:15 p.m., followed by a worship service from 7 to 7:45 and a gathering in the chapel from 7:50 to 8:10. A free-will offering will be taken for the dinner.

SPECIAL MINISTRY: “Dreams Delayed But Not Denied” will be the topic discussed by Abner Miria from the South Africa Tembe Group at 10 a.m. Sunday at Panorama Presbyterian Church, 14201 Roscoe Blvd., Panorama City. Miria will answer questions and share his ministry in South Africa at a 11:30 a.m. lunch following the service. Cost for the meal is $4 for adults and $2 for children.

GUEST SPEAKER: The Rev. Judith Meyer, vice president with the Unitarian Universalist Assn., will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Emerson Unitarian Church, 7304 Jordan Ave., Canoga Park. The topic will be “Company for the Spirit.”

ANNIVERSARY: The First Baptist Church of San Fernando will celebrate its 70th anniversary Sunday with a 10:45 a.m. worship service and a noon potluck meal. The Rev. Samuel Chetti, representing the Los Angeles Baptist City Mission Society, will be the special guest. The Rev. Vern Stanley, church pastor, will speak on “Offloading Stress.” The church is located at 215 N. Macneil St., San Fernando.

PRAISE RALLY: The 17th anniversary of the West Valley Christian Church will be observed Sunday. Ralph Dornette, executive director of the church’s development fund, will speak at the 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. services at the church, located at 6624 Lockhurst Drive, West Hills. Beginning Friday, the church will offer a Spiritual Renewal Weekend with USC philosophy professor and author Dallas Willard. A Praise Rally will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Willard will speak from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 6 and 7.

FUND DRIVE: The Woodland Hills United Methodist Church will kick off a capital fund drive Sunday in an effort to raise $220,000 for renovation and revitalization of the church’s facilities. The fund drive is expected to last two weeks.

LUNCHEON: A Purim/pre-Passover luncheon will be hosted by the West Valley-Golda Meir Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Western Federal Savings Bank, 22100 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. Admission is $5.50 per person. Reservations can be made by calling (818) 999-0621.

WORKSHOP: L’Chaim Workshop, adapting the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous to Judaism, is offered at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Temple Beth Hillel, 12326 Riverside Drive, North Hollywood. WORLD RELIGIONS: Guest speaker B. William Wiltshire will conduct a five-part seminar titled “Religions of the World and Why They Exist” at the West Valley Unity Church, 18300 Strathern St., Reseda. The series will be held Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning today and continuing through March 27. A $7 donation is requested per session.
