Fluor Corp. said Tuesday that its Fluor Daniel engineering and construction subsidiary in Irvine has teamed up with a division of Raytheon Corp. to build a large-capacity oil refinery about 100 miles south of Bangkok in Thailand.

The $2.2-billion project in Rayong province is scheduled for completion in 1996. Fluor Daniel and Raytheon’s Badger Co. unit have signed the letter of intent for the project with Rayong Refinery Co.

The value of the deal to either Fluor or Badger was not disclosed.

The refinery will be able to process 145,000 barrels of crude oil a day, with additional facilities to treat waste water and remove sulfur. It will also include storage tanks and loading stations.
