SHERMAN OAKS : Cable Failure Causes 9-Hour Outage
- Share via
A nine-hour power outage caused by cable failure drained service to 3,500 customers in the Sherman Oaks area, a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The outage began about 8:15 p.m. Monday when an underground cable failed, prompting other cables to do the same and drain power from houses and businesses near Sepulveda Boulevard between Ventura and Magnolia boulevards, DWP spokeswoman Mindy Berman said.
Cause of the cable failure was unknown and power was restored to customers by 5:15 a.m. Tuesday when DWP workers repaired damaged wires and switched others to operating circuits.
