Monterey Park : 250 Seek Aid at Center
More than 250 social service requests have poured into the Chinatown Service Center’s Monterey Park office, which opened two months ago. The center has helped people apply for the Immigration and Naturalization Service’s alien card replacement program and other services. Most service requests--97%--came from San Gabriel Valley cities, while the rest came from residents of Orange, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. Volunteers also are helping low-income families with their income tax returns. Appointments are accepted Mondays and Tuesdays. The center is open 1 to 5 p.m. on weekdays, except Wednesday, when hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: (213) 881-0583.
