On Sunday, the Los Angeles marathon will begin at 9:10 a.m. The map shows times that portions of the route will be closed to traffic, and parking is prohibited for the entire course from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. A number of events are open to the public before the marathon: Today-Saturday

Quality of Life Expo: A free expo featuring more than 300 exhibitors promoting goods, food, travel, ecology and services relating to health and lifestyles. The Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St. from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday

Carbo-Load Dinner: Shrine Exposition Hall, 665 West Jefferson Blvd., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. seatings. Cost of pasta, entertainment and dancing is $10.

Sunday

Wheelchair Marathon: Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard, adjacent to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, 8:35 a.m. Entry, $35 per person; deadline for registering is Saturday.

Race-Walking Division: Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard, 8:45 a.m. Entry, $35 per person; entry deadline Saturday.

Runner Division: Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard, 9:10 a.m. Entry, $35 per person; entry deadline Saturday.

5K Marathon: 33rd and Figueroa streets, 9:30 a.m. Entry, $15 per person; entry deadline Saturday.

Finish Line Festival: In front of the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and features entertainment from radio station Power 106, giveaways, food and displays from about 60 companies.
