LOS ANGELES : Man Gets Life for Holding 2 Women as Sex Slaves
- Share via
A man who kidnaped two immigrant women looking for work, chained them in his camper and held them as sex slaves for months was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.
Paul Garcia, 42, was sentenced to 398 years, plus two consecutive life terms. He had been convicted on 40 counts of kidnaping for the purposes of robbery, false imprisonment, slavery, assault and forcible rape. His victims, from El Salvador and Guatemala, had detailed for a jury the torture they endured at Garcia’s hands.
The women said Garcia, aided by his wife, Emma, lured them to his camper by promising them seamstress work. Once there, he subdued them, chained them and beat and raped them repeatedly. Deputy District Attorney Kelly Cromer said Garcia has shown “absolutely no remorse” for his crimes and “still denies he did anything wrong.”
