Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators Saturday seized $138 million worth of cocaine and arrested three people in Monrovia after a weeklong drug trafficking investigation, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Authorities serving warrants on three locations in the San Gabriel Valley confiscated 347 kilograms of cocaine and $150,000 in currency, said Sgt. Ron Spear, describing the seizure as “a lot, but not a record.”

George Mendoza, 30, and Patricia Gomez, 24, both of El Monte, and Juan Castro, 27, of Los Angeles were being held at the sheriff’s Temple station on suspicion of drug dealing, Spear said. Bail was set at $5 million each.

It was unclear if the three acted independently or if more suspects were being sought, Spear said.
