FULLERTON : Public Input Sought on Budget Measures

Share

Residents on Tuesday can discuss a utility tax, increased fees or service cuts that may be needed to balance the city’s budget. At a City Council workshop, City Manager James L. Armstrong and his staff will present different options to offset a projected $4.2-million deficit for fiscal 1993-94. Council members are seeking residents’ input on what to do.

Since November, staff teams have been studying spending for public safety, the library, the airport, maintenance services and all other city costs. About 75% of the city’s projected 1993-94 budget of nearly $48 million will be spent on salaries and benefits, according to the study.

The teams have identified about $4.2 million in possible spending reductions.

They have also analyzed how much revenue could be raised by a utility users’ fee, a special assessment district and increased business license and other fees.
