Some big names--Taco Bell, L’Eggs and T.J. Maxx--have begun advertising in the Black Orange, a monthly booklet that lists African-American events and activities in Orange County.
Publisher Joyce M. Jordan said the ads are seeking employees and customers. She and her husband have published the booklet since July from their Lake Forest home and say they have a circulation of about 2,500.
The booklet is distributed at five Orange County locations and has just reached an agreement with its first Los Angeles outlet, Eso Won Books.
Jordan, who also works as a secretary at a health care services company, said she has recently begun working an evening shift in order to have time to talk to more potential advertisers. “We are trying to enter into discussions with other corporations who want to reach our community,” Jordan said.
