In response to “Bergeson Defends Wilson’s School Budget,” March 3:

It is remarkable that someone positioned to lead California’s public schools could state that funding has been adequate when many students go without textbooks, supplies and other necessities to further their education. It is also remarkable considering that in most classes in Los Angeles secondary schools the average is at or near 40 students. Economy or no economy, where are her priorities?

The irreparable damage done to the children and to our society by such lack of foresight may not be measured in her lifetime, but if it mirrors what has happened in the last 15 to 20 years because of similar political positions, then the people of this state should be very concerned.
