3-D Systems Announces Loss of $1.5 Million

3-D Systems Inc. reported a fourth-quarter loss of $1.5 million on a 31% increase in sales, compared with a year-earlier loss of $2.8 million.

3-D Systems is a Canadian holding company for Valencia-based 3D Systems, which makes a machine that combines a laser, chemicals and a computer to rapidly produce solid images of various products that manufacturers can use as prototypes.

The latest loss in the quarter that ended Dec. 31 came as 3-D Systems’ sales rose to $6.14 million from $4.68 million.

For all of 1992, the company narrowed its loss to $2.77 million from a loss of $9.36 million the prior year, and its annual sales climbed 33%, to $26 million from $19.5 million.
