Here’s a look at upcoming community forums, debates and other events in the Los Angeles mayor’s race. It will run each week through the April 20 primary. Project Heavy West, a community service organization, will sponsor a forum from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Mar Vista Gardens Recreation Center, 4901 Marionwood Drive, Culver City.

The Junior State of America, a national youth organization, will sponsor a forum called “Rebuilding Los Angeles: The Beginning of a New Era” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Manual Arts High School auditorium, 4131 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles. For more information, call (213) 388-7323.

The Hollywood Highlands Democratic Club will sponsor a “Meet the Candidates” forum at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Peace Center, 8124 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles. For more information, call (213) 660-2950.

“The Future of Los Angeles” forum, hosted by General Telephone Electronics (GTE) and the League of Women Prosecutors, will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the Pacific Design Center Theater, Second Floor, 8687 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. Town Hall of California will sponsor a discussion with editors of the Los Angeles Times editorial page--a chance to learn more about the issues and express opinions--from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the Sheraton-Grande Hotel, 333 S.
