George and Barbara Bush returned to Washington Thursday for the first time since Inauguration Day to accept an award and visit their pregnant daughter.

The former President was to receive the James Forrestal award from the National Security Industrial Assn., a group of 364 defense-oriented firms.

The award is given to an American “whose leadership has promoted significant understanding and cooperation between industry and government in the interest of national security.”
