Syncor International Corp., a Chatsworth-based provider of specialty pharmaceuticals, said its fiscal third-quarter profit jumped 42% from a year earlier on a 16% increase in revenue.

In the quarter ended Feb. 28, Syncor’s net income rose to $1.92 million from $1.35 million a year earlier, while its revenue climbed to $57.6 million from $49.9 million.

Increased sales of certain cardiac-related products and overall cost controls contributed to the gains, Syncor said.

For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Syncor’s profit rose 40%, to $6.26 million from $4.48 million, and its nine-month revenue was up 21%, to $170.2 million from $140.8 million.

The revenue excludes results from Syncor’s home-infusion division, which the company has announced plans to divest.

The unit accounted for about 6% of Syncor’s business.
