3 General Motors Executives Resign: Three senior-level executives at General Motors have resigned, apparently in the first fallout from the dramatic departure of purchasing chief Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua. The three executive directors, who came with Lopez from the company’s European subsidiary last year, tendered their resignations, GM spokeswoman Toni Simonetti said. Three lower-level buyers also quit. Lopez, 52, left March 15 and later joined Germany’s Volkswagen as the top European car maker’s second-in-command after a five-day tug-of-war with GM. The departing executives are Francisco Garcia, who was in charge of electrical commodities; Jose Gutierrez, an executive director for machinery and equipment, and Hugo Van der Auwera, an executive director for metallic commodities.
