University Support Staff

In all of The Times’ coverage of the pay cuts at the University of California, virtually every word has dealt with the impact on the faculty. What about the staff? Most of us are already struggling with workloads that have more than doubled as our friends have been laid off or forced into early retirement. Now we will be paid 5% less to do that work. Humdrum and unglamorous as our positions may seem in comparison to the faculty, we still make a vital contribution to the university.
