SIMI VALLEY : Area Cordoned Off Due to Foul Odor
A county hazardous materials team cordoned off part of a Simi Valley mobile home park Wednesday evening after residents complained that a chemical sprinkled over seeping water was emitting a foul odor, authorities said.
Residents of the Simi Country Acres Mobile Home Park on Rory Lane contacted officials at 7:40 p.m. to complain of the odor, said a spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
The smell appeared to be caused by dry chlorine and did not present a serious problem, the spokeswoman said.
Bob Mutolo, a resident of the 274-unit park, said water had been seeping from the ground in several spots for the last six weeks.
He said the hazardous materials team had cordoned off a portion of Mark Lane and James Way in the park.
