Baxter International to Pay $6 Million to Settle Charges: The company, a major health care products manufacturer, agreed to plead guilty and pay $6.5 million in fines to settle charges that it violated U.S. law by cooperating in an Arab boycott of Israel. The company acknowledged that in 1988 it provided a letter to Arab authorities about its business dealings with Israel. The Justice Department concluded that providing the information violated a provision of the Export Administration Act. Under the plea agreement, the company and its subsidiaries are barred from doing new business with Syria or Saudi Arabia for the next two years.
