A side issue to Patrick Pacheco’s story on Julie Andrews:

Pacheco recalls that Julie won over the future “Queen of England” at the age of 13. As someone who has been surrounded by Brits for the past 20 years (wife, children, mother-in-law and a large contingent of relatives domiciling in the “Greater London” area), may I assure you that Elizabeth is no more the “Queen of England” than Clinton is the President of California. England is NOT a political entity. The times of Shakespeare on which most Americans base their understanding of the British system of government are long gone.

So, for the record, Elizabeth is the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain (made up collectively by England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as assorted outposts of the former British Empire, now called the “British Commonwealth”).

As for Julie, haven’t we all been secretly in love with her for the past 40 years?
