CONEJO VALLEY : Registration for Kindergarten Begins

Share

Kindergarten preregistration runs all this week in the Conejo Valley Unified School District for children eligible to attend in the next school year, officials said.

Parents must register at the school their child will attend.

Space is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said.

The early count gives the district an idea of how many students to expect.

If parents miss the early deadline, which runs through Friday, they can register when schools reopen after summer break in mid-August.

Space cannot be guaranteed, officials said.

Once a school is full, latecomers would be enrolled at a nearby school that has space remaining.

To register, parents must bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate or passport to verify the date of birth.

The child’s immunization record and proof of residence also are required.

The state requires that children be immunized for polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps and rubella.

Children whose immunizations are not up to date by the first day of school will be excluded, officials said.

Eligible kindergartners include only those who turned 5 on or before Dec. 2, 1992.
